Guest Speakers - Michaela, Rowan & Rachael

The Rotary Club of Numurkah were fortunate to hear from three guest speakers at their meeting on Monday 10th October.
Michaela Wood
Michaela is a year 11 student at St Marys Nathalia, and has been selected to attend the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra during January.
Passionate about science since early childhood.
Science is in the forefront of creating future leaders.
Lives in Katamatite studying maths and science subjects at St Marys in Nathalia with physics the preferred subject.
Community minded with volunteer work and likes drawing, reading and cycling.
Curious about flight, intending to undertake aero-space engineering at university.
Looking forward to National Youth Science Forum to met with people of similar interests and making friends. Hoping to learn about science in this changing world and the hope it will make her more dedicated to succeed.
Rowan Herman
Rowan is a grade 6 student at Nathalia Primary School, a member of the Baulkamaugh Scout Group. Attended the Australian Jamboree January 2 - 14 2016 with six other scouts from Baulkamaugh.
Travelled by bus to Sydney. Offsite activities included city sights, ferry ride, opera house. Following day badge swapping.
Cirque de Scout was a great on-site activity with circus tricks, face painting etc. Another on-site activity was Challenge Valley, an obstacle course.
Final night a concert and fireworks.

Rachael Hoey
Rachael from Katunga is a year 12 student at the Goulburn Valley Grammar.
Was a member of the Baulkamaugh Scout Group, now a member of the Yullaba Venturer Unit.
Attended the World Jamboree in Japan in July - August last year.
Activities included cultural sights, religious sites, white water rafting and hiking.
Over 33,000 in total attended representing almost every country.
Motto of Jamboree was "Spirit of Unity and Harmony".
Highlight was being selected to represent Australia at a tea-party with the Crown Prince of Japan.
Wonderful experience, kept in touch with many friends made
After Jamboree, home-stay experience.
Gained Queen's Scout Award, with presentation at Government House.
Queen's Scout Award based on four areas, leadership. community service, personal growth and outdoor activities.
Takes 3 years and 300 plus hours to achieve.
